2023-2024 Seasonal Firewood Prices, Now Booking Tree Removal Jobs For Spring, 2023

The Dead Wood Society is now taking reservations for Spring, 2023 tree removal jobs. We use low-impact techniques with no big trucks or monstrous equipment.
We offer climbing services, lot clearing, trimming, and discounted dead hardwood tree removal.

We have $2 million in liability insurance, and we provide you a formal insurance certificate for your personal address before we do the work.

We also offer discounts for veterans. Our founder is an Air Force veteran himself.

A deposit of $300 to $500 is typically required to secure your preferred calendar dates once an estimate has been calculated for your job.

Call Rich at 603-630-6235 to set an appointment for an appraisal today.

We serve the towns of Belmont, Laconia, Gilford, Gilmanton, Northfield, Tilton and Meredith.

This is a general range and does not apply to all scenarios. Prices often depend on the difficulty of dropping the tree, proximity to vehicle access points, hazards present (power lines and structures) and the type of tree itself (pines are less valuable for firewood and are typically more difficult to clean up).

Here are a few pictures of a couple of our recent removal operations:

WINTER FIREWOOD PRICES & DEAD WOOD WANTED

WINTER IS COMING!!!!!

Firewood prices for the Dead Wood Society will be going up $20 to $300 per cord (delivered) on November 1 for seasoned hardwood. We are typically booked up at least two weeks out, so keep that in mind when you order. Pine will stay the same at $140 per cord (delivered) for a mix of green and seasoned pine.

Green Hardwood is also available through the month of November and December for $220 per cord (delivered), which is actually a discount from our usual $240 price.

We are also looking for seasoned hardwood to process and will remove standing dead and fallen dead trees from your property for $100 a day, a significant discount off our usual $300 a day tree-removal rate. The only catch is you have to have multiple trees (at least 5 medium to large dead trees, and we will make exceptions to this stipulation only for extremely large dead trees). You also have to be in close proximity to Belmont, NH and the other communities we deliver wood to regularly (Gilford, Laconia, Gilmanton, Northfield). There also must be a clear path for the tree to drop, as we will not be using a crane or a climber to do free tree removal.

If you have a large grouping of dying ash trees due to the borer beetle that is destroying the trees across the state, we can make an exception to the trees having to be completely dead. For all other trees, the tree must be dead enough to be utilized immediately for firewood once cut and split, and it cannot be so dead it is ready to crumble into dust.

Call/Text Rich at 603-630-6235* to set up an appointment for us to look at what you have. Also, feel free to email photos and requests for removal to rich.bergeron@gmail.com. We are fully insured with a $1 million in property damage coverage, and we are experts at safely dropping and removing problem trees.

*Do not try to text photos to me, because my phone is a dinosaur.

DEAD WOOD WANTED!!

The Dead Wood Society is in need of seasoned hardwood for the upcoming winter season. We will be selling some and donating some to needy families. If you have trees that are standing dead or already on the ground that you want gone, we can handle all the work for you. We will remove all the wood for free, and in many cases we can arrange for you to get some of the wood we cut and split for your own use.

If you have acreage that is fairly level and easily accessible, we can go through it and take just what is dead and dying and/or remove other unwanted green trees if needed. Call Rich at 603-630-6235 or 617-209-4325 if you are interested or need more information. We are a socially conscious and environmentally friendly company, and we specialize in low impact logging. That means no large equipment comes in, and there is no huge mess left behind.

Since fall is here, it is difficult to tell which standing trees are dead and which ones have just lost their leaves. To better recognize dead trees, look for small mushrooms on the trunk, branches devoid of any buds, and scattered fallen branches around the base of the tree. Most plots of land will have certain areas where there are a cluster of dead trees, usually due to a low or swampy spot where the roots are waterlogged.

We are based in Belmont, NH and would prefer to work in close proximity to our home base. Gilford and Laconia locations will also be considered in addition to Belmont jobs. We are also looking for folks who need all trees cleared from lots, and it would be preferable if we could leave the downed trees until next season. Again, Call or Text Rich at 603-630-6235 or 617-209-4325 for more information or to schedule an appointment for us to have a look at your property. I can also respond to emails sent to rich.bergeron@gmail.com

The Deadwood Society Helps One Veteran Help Another

Phil (at left with Dead Wood Society Founder Rich Bergeron) is a retired Marine Corps veteran who is disabled. He recently had some firewood stolen from his yard, so we stepped in to assist. We delivered a half-cord of seasoned oak and maple to Phil to commemmorate Veteran's Day and continue our tradition of providing assistance to those who need it most. We started long before the snow arrived this year and will be donating another half-cord around Thanksgiving.

We must also extend a special thanks to Benny, another veteran who donated the trees left on his property by the power company. Benny was able to do something special for someone else who served our country with that gesture.

So, from one veteran to another, it was a great moment when the two connected by phone and Phil was able to give thanks. Benny responded by telling his new friend to keep warm with his new wood.

If you have any standing or fallen dead wood on your property that you would like to get rid of, please call Rich at 603-630-6235 or email rich.bergeron@gmail.com to schedule a day to have us come look at what you have available. The more we have available, the more people we can help with donations this season. Also, we are always looking for used equipment and tools for logging, which will also be put to good use helping veterans like Phil stay warm through the colder months.

2014-2015 Firewood Season Prices and Details

The Dead Wood Society is gearing up for another busy firewood season. Unfortunately, we have a serious shortage of seasoned wood. Seasoned wood orders may take up to a week or more to get ready for delivery until our supply increases. If you have large dead trees on your property you want gone and are local to the Lakes Region, please let us know.

We have been receiving requests lately for grapple loads of wood. We cannot currently accommodate these requests, as we only sell cord wood. The most we can deliver at any one time is 2 cords.

We can cut and split orders to your own personal specifications, or we have standard 16-inch (or less) lengths we can deliver.  We are not a massive operation, and our current staff includes just two workers with all cords split by hand with a maul. For this reason we cannot handle huge orders of five cords or more with ease. We also are not going to be able to deliver to you if you live more than 20 miles from Belmont, NH.

Our rates for this season are as follows with all delivery charges set at $20 per cord or order:

Geen Hard Wood: $240 per cord, $120 per half-cord

Seasoned Hard Wood: $280 per cord, $140 per half-cord

Green Pine: $140 per cord, $70 per half-cord

Seasoned Pine: $180 per cord, $90 per half-cord

To place your order contact Rich at 617-209-4325, or 603-630-6235 (leave a message if there is no answer). You can also email rich.bergeron@gmail.com (I check my email very frequently, so sometimes this is the best way to reach me).
