2023-2024 Seasonal Firewood Prices, Now Booking Tree Removal Jobs For Spring, 2023

The Dead Wood Society is now taking reservations for Spring, 2023 tree removal jobs. We use low-impact techniques with no big trucks or monstrous equipment.
We offer climbing services, lot clearing, trimming, and discounted dead hardwood tree removal.

We have $2 million in liability insurance, and we provide you a formal insurance certificate for your personal address before we do the work.

We also offer discounts for veterans. Our founder is an Air Force veteran himself.

A deposit of $300 to $500 is typically required to secure your preferred calendar dates once an estimate has been calculated for your job.

Call Rich at 603-630-6235 to set an appointment for an appraisal today.

We serve the towns of Belmont, Laconia, Gilford, Gilmanton, Northfield, Tilton and Meredith.

This is a general range and does not apply to all scenarios. Prices often depend on the difficulty of dropping the tree, proximity to vehicle access points, hazards present (power lines and structures) and the type of tree itself (pines are less valuable for firewood and are typically more difficult to clean up).

Here are a few pictures of a couple of our recent removal operations:

We are now accepting new tree removal clients in the Lakes Region. We are fully insured and able to take down the majority of nuisance trees without having to climb them. We can normally provide our service at a much lower rate than many of our competitors, depending on the type of trees you wish to remove. We are particularly in need of Ash firewood for the winter months, so if you have some standing dead or green Ash trees that are easily accessible and in need of dropping, we may charge much less per tree than we would for green Oak. The harder and greener the wood, the more it dulls our chains to cut it up. Still, our rates per tree will rarely eclipse $500, far below the industry average described in the above graphic. Special trees may require special circumstances, but we are experts in low-impact work, which means we do not tear up your yard with huge vehicles. We process the trees where they fall with minimal equipment and minimal impact to your property. We remove all wood that can be processed into firewood unless you prefer to keep some for burning yourself. We can also burn brush on site or create a variety of out-of-the-way brush piles for you. We currently do not offer chipping services for brush or stump removal. What we can do is cut every stump right to ground level. Typical per-tree rates for removal through our company will average around $200-$350.

DEAD WOOD WANTED!!

The Dead Wood Society is in need of seasoned hardwood for the upcoming winter season. We will be selling some and donating some to needy families. If you have trees that are standing dead or already on the ground that you want gone, we can handle all the work for you. We will remove all the wood for free, and in many cases we can arrange for you to get some of the wood we cut and split for your own use.

If you have acreage that is fairly level and easily accessible, we can go through it and take just what is dead and dying and/or remove other unwanted green trees if needed. Call Rich at 603-630-6235 or 617-209-4325 if you are interested or need more information. We are a socially conscious and environmentally friendly company, and we specialize in low impact logging. That means no large equipment comes in, and there is no huge mess left behind.

Since fall is here, it is difficult to tell which standing trees are dead and which ones have just lost their leaves. To better recognize dead trees, look for small mushrooms on the trunk, branches devoid of any buds, and scattered fallen branches around the base of the tree. Most plots of land will have certain areas where there are a cluster of dead trees, usually due to a low or swampy spot where the roots are waterlogged.

We are based in Belmont, NH and would prefer to work in close proximity to our home base. Gilford and Laconia locations will also be considered in addition to Belmont jobs. We are also looking for folks who need all trees cleared from lots, and it would be preferable if we could leave the downed trees until next season. Again, Call or Text Rich at 603-630-6235 or 617-209-4325 for more information or to schedule an appointment for us to have a look at your property. I can also respond to emails sent to rich.bergeron@gmail.com

Custom Wood Slab Cutting Now Available

The Dead Wood Society is now able to provide custom, rough cut wood slabs for our customers. We have a variety of hardwoods  and plenty of pine available, or we can come to you and cut slabs for you with our Alaskan Sawmill. Below are some examples of fresh-cut Hophornbeam, one of the hardest woods available in New Hampshire forests. We found a particularly large tree to make these boards out of, and we have some long pieces left to cut. Call Rich at 603-630-6235 for estimates and information. We can cut aged wood as well as green wood, but the rule on slabs is the greener the wood, the better the boards will come out as long as they are dried properly.
