The Dead Wood Society plans to give away two full cords of wood this winter season to local families in need. We will rely on nominations provided to us in the days leading up to Thanksgiving (November 22). The donated wood will go out in four half-cord increments to four different nominees we select. We hope to begin these deliveries the week of Thanksgiving and conclude our donation drive by Christmas.
To nominate a family you know, please email Dead Wood Society Founder Rich Bergeron at rich.bergeron@gmail.com with a brief description of the situation and why the family deserves our help. We will select four different families from the pool of nominees for the four deliveries.
We are also looking for standing and fallen dead wood in the area to provide some of the wood for these deliveries and potentially a few more. Though we are happy to work with snow on the ground, it's much easier to collect our donation stockpile while the weather is still warm, so please call Rich at 617-209-4325 if you have firewood to donate. We prefer to work close to the Lakes Region and as close to our Belmont, NH processing center as possible, but we are also willing to travel for quality wood.
